Senior Technical Translator

Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently recruiting for Senior Technical Translator (temporary for 4-5 months) with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join our team in Atyrau or Almaty, Kazakhstan (for KZ passport holders).

• Provides accurate, timely and stylistically appropriate translation on various subjects (ENG / RUS)
• Contacts the terminology and reference staff to clarify difficulties arising from texts submitted for translation and other specialist staff to discuss the most suitable translation of a term
• Checks / proof-reads texts translated by other in-house and freelance translators prior to delivery to the client
• Provides interpretation support during meetings, presentations, etc., in-house and in the client premises
• Assists Lead Translator in work planning and scheduling as well as prioritizing workload
• Contributes to creating and enriching an in-house terminology database
• Contributes to developing and coaching other translators in a less senior role
• Carries out research activities to gain a better understanding of the nature of the text he / she is translating at any time.

This will typically involve desk research and use of the internet, in which the employee will be expected to be able to locate quickly and utilize material relating to the subject matter being translated

• Performs any other tasks as required by management to facilitate the smooth running of the translation activities
• SDL Trados Studio translation software
• Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Advanced level of written / spoken English
